Richard F. Silber, PLLC

About Richard

I started my firm in 1991 with the intent of making a difference in the lives of others when they need it most. I spent years working at bigger firms and learning a lot. At the end of the day, though, my core desire was to give my clients more one-on-one attention — and now that’s exactly what I get to do.

I started my legal education with a Bachelors of Science in biology and chemistry from Beloit College. It wasn’t until after getting my undergraduate degree that I discovered my love for human connection. Couple that with my drive to protect the welfare of others and I found that law was the ideal path for me.

After getting my Juris Doctorate from the University of New Hampshire School of Law in 1981, I spent four years as a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice. During my time there, I worked in the civil division and prosecuted cases under the False Claims Act while also defending the government in contract cases before the U.S. Claims Court. In addition, I spent several years working for bigger law firms and continuing to hone my craft as an attorney.

I believe in treating every case with respect, care, and caution.

In 1991, I decided that I wanted to strike out on my own. Fueled by my core desires, I was ready to create a practice that aligned my background with the values and strengths I believe set me apart. I have an uncanny ability to understand personal injury. Because of my education in biology and chemistry, I have an advantage most insurance companies and opposing parties don’t see coming from an attorney. I don’t collect unless we win, so there’s no risk in scheduling a consultation.

Awards and honors include a Distinguished Service Award from the Department of Justice, an award for Outstanding Services as a Trial Attorney from the Civil Division, and a Distinguished Service Award from the Gay and Lesbian Activists Alliance for efforts in the Tyra Hunter Case. Bar admissions: Washington DC; Maryland. Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Rating, 2012; Baltimore & Washington DC’s Top Lawyers (The Washington Post), 2012.
